Team BGL making an even bigger impact

January 21, 2019

Gary Hall has been running in Team Stroke and raising funds for the Stroke Foundation with his wife Dallas for several years. Gary and Dallas began raising funds for the Stroke Foundation in support of their friend who was impacted by stroke.

However, in 2018, Gary wanted to make an even bigger impact. Gary approached the General Manager at his workplace, consulting firm BGL, about the idea of his colleagues getting together to create a team for Run Melbourne.

When General Manager Daniel announced he would shave his beard if the team raised $500 for the Stroke Foundation, the staff of BGL quickly got together to create a Run Melbourne team, Team BGL. Within days of setting up their fundraising pages, the team of 32, smashed this $500 target.

Fellow team mate and colleague, Brad, then announced he would shave his beard if the team raised over $4,000. By the end of Run Melbourne Team BGL went on to raise over $5,250 for the Stroke Foundation and Brad stayed true to his word and shaved his beard.

With one in six people having a stroke in their lifetime, unfortunately it wasn’t surprising to discover that a few BGL team members, Paige and Vince, also sharing Gary’s story, with their own loved ones being impacted by stroke.

Team BGL are back again for 2019 Run Melbourne! We’re so excited to have them back and fighting stroke.
