National Action Plan for Heart and Stroke

The Australian Government is working with the Stroke Foundation and the Heart Foundation to develop a National Action Plan for Heart and Stroke (the Action Plan). The Action Plan will identify and prioritise achievable actions the Australian Government can implement. An Action Plan is vital to reduce the impact of stroke and heart disease on the individual, the community and the health care system. Actions included will achieve better outcomes for Australians affected by heart disease and stroke and their families.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent survey and stakeholder forums helping to shape the development of the Action Plan.

We now invite you to review the National Action Plan for Heart and Stroke Draft and provide feedback via an online form.

Please note the closing date for feedback is Sunday 17 March 2019.

The Action Plan will be submitted to the Australian Government in April. It will be accompanied by documents detailing the evidence base supporting the Action Plan, a stocktake of relevant programs and initiatives at a state and national level, and a summary of the consultation undertaken in developing the Action Plan.

If you have any difficulty accessing the Action Plan Draft online or completing the feedback form, please email us at, or call the Stroke Foundation on 03 9670 1000.
