Sandra O Dell interview

What does it mean to you to be named a finalist in the Stroke Awards?

To be named a finalist is an absolute honour, not one that I expected, yet feeling very humbled that my friend took the time to nominate me.

Why is supporting the Stroke Foundation/raising awareness about stroke important to you?

Prior to the fundraiser, my life hadn’t be touched by stroke. When my friend rang me and told me about her dad, I was so sad and heart-broken for her, I couldn’t get to her.

What motivated your fundraising to support the stroke community?

I was motivated to run, simply because I could. It was the one thing I could do for her and her family.

What do you hope your fundraising will achieve?

I hope the funds I helped raise make life a little bit easier for those whose lives have been affected.

What is one thing you would like people to know about stroke?

The one thing people need to know about stroke is, no one is immune to it.
