Policy and advocacy

At the Stroke Foundation, we are dedicated to bringing about positive change to the lives of all people in Australia affected by stroke.

Drawing on evidence from researchers and the experiences of people directly impacted by stroke, we look to influence public and political opinion and policy.

Creating system wide change to help prevent stroke, improving the standard of stroke care in hospitals and ensuring better care and quality of life for people after stroke are central to our policy and advocacy efforts.

Position Statements

As the leading voice for Stroke in Australia, the Stroke Foundation has developed a series of position statements, both independently and in partnership with our alliance partners that explain our views on a number of issues relevant to stroke.

E-cigarettes
The Stroke Foundation does not support the use of e-cigarettes, nor does it condone their use in public spaces. There is yet to be international acceptance of e-cigarettes as a quitting aid, nor is there substantial proof they have no adverse effects on the smoker or those in the immediate vicinity.
