The Stroke Research and Innovation Future Fund will provide sustainable revenues for our ground-breaking research projects, new technology and frontline stroke support services.

Since 1996, due to the support of the Australian community, Stroke Foundation has provided investment into research, leading to significant breakthroughs in new treatments and improved diagnosis for stroke. As limited government funding to stroke research continues, the returns generated from the Stroke Research and Innovation Fund is critical to ensuring our services can continue to provide strategic support to medical practitioners and educators who remain on the forefront of national stroke care.

As the Fund continues to grow, so too can our impact to save lives and enhance recovery.

By making a considered annual investment or one-off gift to the Stroke Research and Innovation Future Fund, you will be joining a select group of people who understand the importance of investing in future health technologies and services to improve frontline care and rehabilitation services for all Australians.

You can also establish an Endowment Sub-Fund.

    Melissa's story

    A Stroke research story

Melissa is incredibly grateful for our contribution to breakthroughs in stroke. Without it, her life may look very different today.

Less than four hours after suffering a stroke in the kitchen of her family home in 2017, Melissa was having a blood clot removed from her brain.

The surgery, an endovascular thrombectomy, was pioneered right here in Australia with the help of Stroke Foundation.

Melissa returned home from hospital within one week, physically mobile and independent. Today the mother of two has made a near full recovery.

“I am living proof of the value of stroke research. Without it, life-saving medical advancements would not get off the ground.

“You never know when the next breakthrough in prevention, treatment or rehabilitation could help you or someone you love.”

“With the number of stroke cases growing, especially in working age people like me, there has never been a more urgent time to invest in stroke research.”
