MedAdvisor increased the life-saving impact of Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure Check 2022 via pharmacy clients and over 2 million Australian users of the MedAdvisor medication management app.

Every year, non-adherence to medication costs lives. MedAdvisor’s mission is to improve health outcomes and business results by connecting people, pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies.

Patients, local pharmacists and big pharma use MedAdvisor to achieve a common goal - improved medication adherence. Approximately 70% of Australian pharmacies use MedAdvisor, with the medication adherence app utilised by more than 2 million Australians.

MedAdvisor’s co-founder, Josh, watched his mum struggle with more than ten different prescription medicines needed to manage her arthritis and Parkinsons Disease. Living with chronic illness is difficult enough without the added stress of managing multiple medications.

MedAdvisor was started to help people like Josh’s mum take back control and make medication one less thing to worry about. It combines a powerful app designed to help people take and track medications with digital-first pharmacy tools and educational content that improves health literacy and medication adherence.

The Guild added its voice to our Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure Check campaign in 2022 to help promote the campaign’s life-saving message throughout its membership network.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has been representing and promoting the value of community pharmacy in the Australian health care system for more than 90 years.

Community pharmacies are a vital part of our national health system with the potential to make an even bigger contribution to the health of all Australians.

For Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure check in May 2022, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s National President Trent Twomey said community pharmacies are the most accessible health professionals, so it is easy for people to get a blood pressure check.

“Most pharmacies provide this service because we recognise just how important keeping an eye on your blood pressure is,” Professor Twomey said.

“A blood pressure check can give an early warning of the dangers of a stroke. I recommend people go to the findapharmacy.com.au website where they can find a pharmacy near them which provides blood pressure monitoring services.”

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s activities and services include Membership, Advocacy, Careers, Guild Publications, Policies and Position Statements, and a commitment to Social Responsibility.
