Live Well After Stroke Appeal
“On the outside I was fine, but internally I was falling apart.”
Liz’s words are powerful because they reveal a devastating truth – that for many stroke survivors the road to recovery can be lonely, it can be frustrating and at times it can be terrifying.
When Liz had a stroke at the age of 33, her life changed in an instant.
While Liz has made a wonderful physical recovery since her stroke, people couldn’t see what was happening inside. For months after her stroke, Liz was wracked with the fear that at any moment stroke would strike again.

Stroke Crisis Appeal
“It could have, it should have, happened so much quicker”
Lynne is talking about the time it took to get her mum, Judy, into life-saving surgery after a stroke. “It was nearly five hours by the time she went in for surgery.”
Although Judy had the stroke in hospital, it was in the early hours of Saturday morning. The hospital didn’t have protocols for clot retrieval surgery on weekends. With every minute’s delay parts of Judy’s brain were dying.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Read about Judy and Lynne’s story and find out how you can help demand that every Australian has access to critical treatment after a stroke.
There aren’t enough words to describe what StrokeLine has meant to me. The support and inner peace I have found from my connection to StrokeLine has been a lifeline.
