Workplace health checks

High blood pressure is one of the most important known risk factors in stroke – and many people don’t even know they have it. It is often called the ‘silent killer’. The only way to know you have high blood pressure is to get checked. The good news is you can find out in just 10 minutes.

The Stroke Foundation has developed a workplace initiative which aims to improve awareness and give participants a better understanding of the risk factors for stroke and cardiovascular disease.

On average, 10-20 percent of participants discover they have high blood pressure and receive a potentially life-saving referral to their doctor.

About the health check

The health check is simple and quick… and it could save your life. It takes 5-10 minutes and includes:

  • A type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease risk assessment questionnaire
  • A blood pressure check
  • An interpretation of the results by a qualified health professional who will provide lifestyle advice and/or referral to a doctor for a comprehensive assessment if required.

Participation requirements

  • You must have a qualified health professional in attendance at all times. This is an individual thoroughly trained in the taking blood pressure as part of their qualification
  • Record and return a small amount of de-identified data on the checks completed

If you need a health professional, our preferred provider Bizheath will contact you to organise one and provide all resources including a blood pressure monitor for a special rate starting at $350.

Testimonial

"I would like to thank Stroke Foundation for enabling the Queensland Government staff in Cairns to participate in the Know Your Numbers initiative, as part of Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure Check. The initiative was very well received, with all 86 appointment slots filled and attended!

The communication, support and resources provided by the Stroke Foundation were excellent.  I would love to have the opportunity to organise another similar event in the future.

Once again, thank you."
