Summary

Researchers from The University of Melbourne are working with survivors of stroke, family members, carers, health care workers, urban designers, policy makers and people from professional and community organisations to develop a community-based walking program for survivors of stroke. This program is called “Supportive Strides”.

This research project is about developing the Supportive Strides program, which aims to support survivors of stroke to engage in a regular physical activity walking program that embeds peer support and socialisation.

Eligibility

  • Adult survivors of stroke
  • Family members or carers of adult survivors of stroke.

Activity

  • Participate in 1 or 2 workshops that may be 1.5–2 hours long.
  • Share ideas about designing a successful walking program for survivors of stroke.
  • Discuss a range of questions about potential key elements of a community walking program for people after stroke.
  • Workshops will be held in-person at The University of Melbourne, Grattan Street, Parkville VIC 3010, or via videoconference or phone call.
