National Stroke Week

National Stroke Week will take place from Monday 4 - Sunday 10 September 2017. Each year thousands of people around the country participate in the annual campaign. Last year there was over 2900 events nationally including morning’s teas, bake sales, office competitions, public information stands and free health checks.

This year Australians are being asked to join the FAST response team by knowing the signs of stroke. Paramedics, nurses and doctors can only treat stroke if Australians recognise the signs of stroke and call 000 immediately.

Could you recognise the signs of stroke F.A.S.T?

  • Face - Check their face. Has their mouth drooped?
  • Arms - Can they list both arms?
  • Speech - Is their speech slurred? Do they understand you?
  • Time - Time is critical. If you see any of these symptoms Act FAST and call 000

Knowing FAST could save the life of someone close to you.  Sharing the FAST message with those around you could save your own life.
