Australian Brain Pioneers Network Inaugural Workshop
Who it’s for: Survivors of stroke
What it involves: Workshop
Location: In-person VIC, online (Australia)
Anticipated end date: 26 November 2026
Summary
Neurotechnologies are medical devices that interact with the nervous system to help treat or manage health conditions. Australians who take part in research involving these devices play an important role in developing new treatments and improving our understanding of the brain.
This Monash University project is exploring the creation of an Australian Brain Pioneers Network: a community that could connect and support people who have participated, or may participate, in neurotechnology research. Through a half-day workshop, they want to learn what activities, resources and opportunities people with lived experience would value from such a network.
Eligibility
- Adults living in Australia who are either:
- users of novel or investigational neurotechnological devices; or
- not currently using a device but are eligible or will soon be using a novel neurotechnology.
Activity
- Attend a single workshop lasting approximately three hours.
- The workshop will be a hybrid format, with in-person and online attendance options.
- The workshop will include a presentation from a world leader in community engagement in brain-computer interfaces, followed by a series of interactive activities designed to identify participants’ priorities for the design of an Australian Brain Pioneers Network.
Workshop date: Thursday 26 November 2026
In-person location: Monash University Caulfield Campus, 900 Dandenong Rd, Caulfield East, Victoria 3145
