Wearable sensors to measure movement in people with stroke

Who it’s for: Survivors of stroke
What it involves: Data collection
Location: In-person QLD
Anticipated end date: 31 July 2027

Summary

Stroke can change how people move in their everyday life, affecting walking, getting out of bed, and completing household tasks. Wearable technology can measure how much people move but not yet how well they move.

This project from The University of Queensland aims to build an open-access collection of movement data from small everyday sensors worn during everyday tasks.

Researchers will use it to develop better ways to measure movement, which may help people get the therapy they need, when they need it.

Eligibility

  • Survivors of stroke aged at least 18 years
  • Able to move independently (with or without an aid).

Activity

  • Attend one 2-hour session at The University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus, Brisbane, QLD
  • Wear small, lightweight movement sensors to track your movements while you complete a series of everyday tasks in a home-like environment.

Travel costs within Brisbane will be covered (e.g., taxi voucher or parking).
